Today’s #AutChat is about religion. Religion is a broad and complex topic. People’s experiences with religion can vary greatly, depending on many things.
As just a few examples: some religions are marginalized in a given society. Some religions are accepting towards queer people and some aren’t. Some religions want all members to have the same beliefs, and some don’t. #AutChat
Q1: Say as little or as much as you’re comfortable with about your past or current religious background (or lack thereof). #AutChat
Q2: What have your experiences with religion been like? For example, with respect to being autistic or similarly neurodivergent, with respect to other aspects of your life or identity, and/or in general. #AutChat
Q3: If your religion is marginalized where you live, how has that affected your experiences? If you’re marginalized within your own religion for other reasons in addition to neurodivergence, how has that affected your experiences? #AutChat
Q4: Do some religious communities/beliefs/practices influence how autistic and similarly neurodivergent people are treated in your society? How could religious communities better support autistic and similarly neurodivergent people? #AutChat
